SRI LANKA HOLIDAYS: A must before you die

Sri Lanka, one of BBC TV's
50 Places To See Before You Die

In 2003, the BBC asked its viewers where would they like to visit before they die. SRI LANKA is one of the top 50 places selected. Unfortunately the ancient tropical island in the orient is the least promoted world class tourist destination in the world. It is world class in the sense, it has something for everyone except for snow capped mountains. Sri Lanka Holidays is the THE (Total Holiday Experience)

But then wait a minute, please. Hold your horses. The Cultural Triangle is not all culture. In the perimeters of the cultural sites are wildlife sanctuaries. Hotels designed with original architecture & at home with nature are located in or next to the wildlife sanctuaries or close to vast man made rainwater reservoirs. Even to the visitors whose primary objective is beach holidays in the beautiful expanses of palm fringed bay beaches of the tropical island, the cultural triangle brings in an unforgettable enlightening experience. Here is a definite advantage of holidays in Sri Lanka.

In addition to the 6 cultural world heritage sites, Sri Lanka Holidays offer nature attractions such as Sinharaja tropical rain forest, a World heritage site in the wet zone & Horton Plains with a blend of temperate montane forest & wet patina grassland, another world heritage nature reserve in the central highlands of salubrious climate round up wondrous Sri Lanka Holidays. As if all these opportunities wouldn't do, descending down from the central highlands to the plains you could enjoy soft adventure opportunities such as trekking, boating, kayaking, birding, camping at nature attractions until you reach the pristine beaches of the southern & south western coast. What else would you like to see? Whales. No sweat, all we have to do is drive to Arugambay Bay, a pristine beach, a surf beach of International standing in the eastern coast. What else would you like? Skiing. My apologies, ours is an tropical island.

Arthur C. Clarke summed up this vital factor in style.
"The Island of Sri Lanka is a small universe containing as many variations of culture, scenery and climate as some countries a dozen times her size.. Every point on the island can be reached with just a few hours travel by car, enabling even the short-term visitor to experience many of island's diversities."

Wherever you travel in our island you will never fail to see hoards of local tourists at the attractions. Wherever you travel you may find the comfort of eco-oriented hotels of international standing. The journey as well as the attractions bring you joy & enjoyment; light & enlightenment; happy days & merry nights. www.rioltalankaholidays.com Visit "The Land of Delights" We Reveal For You To Revel. Sri Lanka first carbon-neutral destination in the world

As part of the Boardroom Challenge panel moderated by CNN anchor Ms Kristie Lu Stout, at the PATA CEO challenge, Renton de Alwis, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Board made a presentation on the Earth Lung concept, a program that was announced during the UNWTO Summit on Climate Change in Davos in 2007. This is an initiative to make Sri Lanka a carbon neutral destination, offsetting the carbon emissions from visiting tourists, thus reducing travel guilt and appealing to the more responsible traveller.
A very interesting initiative that according to Mr. de Alwis is supposed to turn into a community - Sri Lanka is a pioneering country on this concept, and ahead of its peers in identifying its significance and acting on it. UNQUOTE SRI LANKA TOURISM BOARD.
